  • What Hypnosis Can Do For You

    What to Expect

Once we have connected and scheduled your initial session, you will receive an email with intake forms that you can easily complete prior to our initial session.  This will allow me to gain more insight into how best I can help you.  Our session will either be virtual through a secure web-based platform or in my office which is located in Malta, NY. My office is located at 100 Saratoga Village Blvd, Suite 21, conveniently located at Exit 12 off the Northway 87. You will be greeted with a smile and be invited into my confidential office space where you will have access to a comfortable chair and atmosphere.

Your effective and lasting change is my number one priority.  During our first session, I will help you identify your specific goals for working together. We will review your completed intake form and move toward your desired outcomes at a comfortable pace for you.  I will also teach you some easy techniques to manage stress or cravings right on the spot. Everyone is able to go into a certain level of hypnosis even the first time.  Level of depth of hypnosis doesn’t impact the effectiveness of change. Each time working together, going into hypnosis will be easier and deeper none the less.  We laser focus on the things you want to change.

Each session is client focused and individualized to your goals for change.  Depending on what you are seeking hypnosis or health/life coaching will determine the number of minimum sessions for desired change.   When your session is over you will feel energized, inspired and the changes you are seeking will be underway.

    What Does the Research Say?

Hypnosis is a very effective tool/intervention for many things. Often it can be used as a first line of defense instead of a last resort. Here are a few examples that demonstrate the effectiveness of Hypnosis.

Smoking Cessation:  One study reported that 81% Quit smoking with hypnosis, and the majority of those who quit  remained smoke-free a year later.

Another study reported that while many people who try to stop smoking on their own crash and backslide after a week or two, 90.7% of those who were hypnotized were still smoke-free during checkpoints ranging from six months to three years later.

Another study reported that after a two-year period, the hypnosis group was twice as likely to have remained free of cigarettes, and hypnosis was proven to be “an effective intervention for long‐term smoking cessation and abstinence in adult smokers.”

Weight Loss:  Hypnosis helped people lose weight in both the short-term and in the long-term. In other words, hypnosis helps people keep from regaining weight!

Hypnosis controls pain! Hypnosis has direct effects on many suprasinal sites involved in the experience of pain.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome: The hypnosis patients showed a dramatic improvement in all features, the difference between the two groups being highly significant. In the hypnosis group no relapses were recorded during the 3-month follow-up period, and no substitution symptoms were observed.

The Veterans Association reports that Clinical Hypnosis is one of the evidence-based complementary and integrative health (CIH) approaches covered by the Veterans medical benefits package when deemed clinically necessary by their care team per VHA Directive 1137 – Provision of Complementary and Integrative Health, published in May 2017. Based on literature review these approaches were found to be safe and have sufficient evidence of benefit to be recommended as appropriate components of care for the Veteran population. Conditions with evidence of positive effect include: anxiety disorders, anxiety related to medical procedures, insomnia, Irritable Bowel Syndrome. High-confidence evidence that clinical hypnosis is effective for anxiety in cancer patients, breast cancer care, obesity and weight loss. A summary of double-blind studies suggests Clinical Hypnosis as a tool to consider as possible efficacious or better for additional areas: pain management, headache and migraine, asthma, sleep disorders, depression, dermatological conditions, anxiety, procedural pain and anxiety, and other areas.
